Time is not what it appears to be.

State trooper Daniel Reilly never thought he’d wind up in his stepmother’s favorite movie. Chasing a suspected drunk driver through Washington’s desolate Okanogan Highlands is part of his job, but crashing his cruiser and waking up in a ghost town definitely isn’t. And when that ghost town starts to come to life?

His version of Brigadoon is not a carefree musical.

Sojourn Tales of the Unearthly Northwest Book 1 eBook MM Justus

I've read the other two Tales of the Unearthly Northwest, but for some reason, I had not read this one. It is just as good as Reunion and the short story.

I quite enjoyed it. I love the whole idea of the town that time forgot, and I love the whole part where the two main characters don't quite know what's going on with the Twilight Zone factor. Of course, they start figuring it out along the way, as best they can with some of the hindrances on them. It's not the why that is really important anyway, but the impact it's had. (Of course, you want to know the why.)

I love the main character's voice, and how he approaches the problem, even though it is driving him a little crazy.

Sojourn Tales of the Unearthly Northwest Book 1 eBook MM Justus Reviews

Really liked this story even though halfway through I got what was going on. I really liked how it ended.
Another win for Meg Justus! I could not put this book down, and am eagerly awaiting the sequel. Her writing style is flowing, the descriptions are smooth and inviting. You can clearly see the places she writes about, even if you've never been there; her books are an invitation to travel. Highly recommended.
Really enjoyed this fascinating world the author created and the mystery behind Conconully and its inhabitants - the story kept me turning pages! There's also a nice, sweet romance as a side story, which was also enjoyable, but the real draw to me was the "mystery" (can't say more, otherwise it would be a spoiler). Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed the story, full of interesting characters. Its not much of a mystery to the reader what has happened to the main character ("Brigadoon without the music") but his journey of discovery is nonetheless engrossing. A good read!
People. Places. Plot. All crucial for a good read. Justus gets all three right.

We meet the characters in this first of the series and are immediately intrigued. They are people we want to know. The troubled trooper. The mysterious Amy. The maybe more mysterious Audrey and Max. And all those others who walk through the tale that we want to know even better, and we will.

It has been a long time since I visited Concunully, and I wasn't much into history when I lived in the Okanogan region, but the place is so right--the feel of it is perfect.

And the plotline--is this a time travel novel like Justus's earlier Time in Yellowstone series? Maybe. Is it a love story? An adventure? A mystery? Justus adds just enough of each that you may have to decide for yourself--and just enough to make Sojourn a great read.

I can't wait for the next in the series.
The premise for this book was interesting and engaging, but I had a hard time fully engaging with the main character. Because of the first person viewpoint, it took me a while to relate to the main character as male. Also, a few of the events didn't make sense to me. I never fully understood the main characters dislike of his family and "real life" situation.
This newest book by Meg Justus, like her earlier Yellowstone series, places its protagonist in a different time from his own. Unlike the Yellowstone series, this is a darkly mysterious, uncertain situation he finds himself in. Like Dan Reilly, the reader also must look carefully for clues to determine the landscape of the novel. The fact that you're never quite sure what is the truth behind Dan's experiences and the people he meets lends the book a dream-like air. I couldn't put it down, but I kept listening for Rod Serling's voice as narrator.
